The  Cha-Cha-Cha or simply cha-cha, is a dance of Cuban origin performed to the music of the same name. It’s a combination of 2 dances: the ‘mambo’ and the ‘danzon’  with a characteristic triple step on the 4-&-1. Some say that the dance was named the cha cha cha because of the sound the feet make as they shuffle on the floor whilst dancing, others say its due to the guiro (Puerto Rican percussion instrument) and the distinctive sound it makes whilst being played during Cha-Cha music. Cha-Cha isn’t something that is taught much these days… but it’s such a great way to get to know your music and express musicality due to the extra beats stepped by the dancer.
