Styling & Body Movement

To us, the term “styling” means creating a natural, fluid and relaxed looking basic step that allows you confidence on the dance floor and lets your own personality and creativity shine through.

About The Dance

To us, the term “styling” means creating a natural, fluid and relaxed looking basic step that allows you confidence on the dance floor and lets your own personality and creativity shine through. We teach about understanding the coordination of the contra movement of salsa; the correct posture; how to use the floor by transferring your weight between the feet; as well as the correct foot placement and momentum required; so that you can feel and look your best on the dance floor. A controlled confident dancer who knows when and how to use these techniques is a much nicer dancer all round, in terms of connection with your partner and of course how you look aesthetically.

Over and above the basic, styling refers to using the parts of your body in “extra ways” to embellish your basic steps, and make it look “extra ordinary” when you dance it. We hope to teach you how to use your whole body; feet, legs, hips, torso, chest, shoulders, head and arms; to instil coordination and control within your body and explain when and when not to use these elements. Salsa is a partner dance first and foremost and it’s really good to understand when it’s appropriate to style and when not to so that you don’t interfere with the lead. Man or woman, we feel that everyone should learn to coordinate and style their bodies with control to enhance their sabroso (tasty appeal *wink*)

We have different levels of classes for our “styling and movement” which you can explore in more detail below, deciding what is best for you. To note, we also have 2 different types of classes:
